Inspection Services

Certification Inspection

Inherent in most Rolling Stock Certification processes is the requirement to assure the modified or new build vehicles are correctly assembled and function in accordance with the design that has been certified. This activity is carried out by our Vehicle Certification Engineers.

All of our vehicle inspectors have graduated from the shop floor where they have progressed through carrying out the work, supervising the work, inspecting and authorising others work to their current independent role. During their tenure with CORREL they have also been authorised as Safety Examination signatories, responsible for carrying out the into service safety examination of rolling stock that is now the clear responsibility of the Train Operating Company.

Vehicle Condition Inspection

In addition to inspection for mandatory compliance our staff have had many years experience in the inspection of quality, finish and customer compliance issues, particularly relating to final customer inspections. We are therefore able to both carry out such inspections on behalf of a customer, but also, bringing our experience to bear, be an advocate for a customer where an external organisation is over exerting its influence on such inspections.

Further inspection work is focussed on the condition of existing, in service vehicles. This can be for the purposes of asset residual value assessment on behalf of the owner or to assess the effectiveness of cleaning, maintenance or overhaul providers on behalf of either the owner or operator.

Component Inspection

It is often too late to rectify problems found by inspection if they are found on the completed vehicles and therefore component or subsystem inspection, either at the time of first delivery (referred to as First Article Inspection - FAI) or periodically through the manufacture cycle can save both time and money. Our inspectors have significant experience in carrying out such component inspections at manufacturers and suppliers all across Europe, as indicated in the small example of inspections shown here.
